dance, dance

Well, 2 out of 6 isn't bad, right? That's like, 1/3. Which is like 33%. I'm pretty happy with myself.

And I'm going to go with Beyonce for most glamorous. That girl can wear a dress.

I was pretty sad to see that Cars didn't get the Oscar for best animated film, but that damn penguin was just too cute.

Probably my favorite part of the evening, though, was this:

Who doesn't love Sally Kirkland?

And probably the best thing about her outfit is that if the Oscars was a plane and it was about to crash, all of the big stars could have clung to her and used her dress as a parachute. Or, if the oscars was a big boat on a desolate ocean and the motor stopped working, well, her dress could be used for food. Or even a sail.

Just kidding. I respect a girl who can go out in a dress like hers and not think twice about what other people are going to say about it. Kudos. Plus she looks pretty good.

But you know what doesn't look good? Depauw University's Greek System. Actually, I don't think this is really Depauw's fault, but the national chapter of Delta Zeta apparently did a little bit of house cleaning at the Depauw chapter. Ouch.

the world you love

The image “http://www.zicline.com/an8/semaine12/yellowcard.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. I have a feeling that Little 500 week just got a little bit better. =)

This is kind of interesting. High schoolers are getting better grades while their reading skills are not improving.

It's a good thing that reading isn't that important.

P.S. I want this for the next holiday that warrants a gift!

Is there anything cuter? Cuddlier? MORE AMAZING??? I think Ipod's are going to take over the world. And it will be in the form of this little bear. This cute, cuddly ....beautiful......sleek..........powerful............ bear.

Must.... give .....bear .....money ....checks .....savings bonds .....credit cards ....social security number ....stocks and bonds .....first born child ..... second born child.

back to california

Yay for good news! Tony Blair has the right idea. Now, if only the US troops could come home as well. The article says that as the British troops are leaving, Bush is sending 21,500 more US soldiers.

I salute you, Mr. Blair.

As to the next president of our great country, only time will tell. But with all of the preliminary stuff going on right now, I think that the most important thing for any candidate to do is to gain the support of celebrities. That's right, celebrities. I think we need to ask ourselves some questions to which the word "celebrities" might be the answer to.

Who knows the most about politics?
Who controls the most wealth in this country?

Buzz!
Yes?
Um, I'm going to go with, celebrities?
DING DING DING DING.
yep.

If you want money for campaigning, I guess the most important people to gain the approval of are celebrities.

Who would have thought that the great financial supporters of our political system would bring us such genius works as Daddy Daycare? This smells like a win/win situation to me.

this is what i wanted

Finally, somebody who has something to say! I appreciate your comments and I love ones like this that actually make sense. This is a very good argument. I don't deny these things. If I like a comment, I will post it.

Although I understand your view point in being pro-life because of a religious stand point, I do believe you are failing to look at the potential social problems of banning abortion. Banning abortion will not work. Instead it will cause people to resort to desperate majors (coat hanger abortions, abortions in Mexico) causing more health problems for women and not just killing the fetus but potentially the women as well due to unsafe medical procedures. Look at history it already happened. Another potential social problem that could come about is crime rates will most likely increase. Studies have shown that unwanted children are more prone to become troubled adolence who are prone to drug use and crime. When abortion was legalized in 1970 the crime began to go down. In countries where abortion was banned crime rates went up. Although I agree with the idea that that all women have plenty of solutions; the facts are condoms break; pills can be mistaken or unresponsive in some people. Abortion is a sure way when other methods fail. Adoption is great point to bring up. Have you looked at the success rates of the adopted child in today’s world because the odds are against them. The one’s that succeed are lucky. Adoptee’s trauma begins the moment their separated from their mother. (Verrier, 1993) This trauma is subconscious but still exists. Many adopted children develop shame and doubt at as little of 13 months to 3 years old believing that who they are is bad. As they get older many adoptive children tend to try acting out what they believe their biological parents maybe like trying drugs and getting involved promiscuous behavior. I’ve seen it happen with my own friend who is adopted along with looking at the psychological research. I recommend you read Freaknomics and look at the long term physical and psychological affects that this would cause our nation. I recommend that you look at the social burden you’re putting on these unwanted children by putting them in foster care and allowing them to know for the rest of their lives that they weren’t wanted. I hope you understand that by banning abortion you’ll be increasing the death toll by not only killing fetuses but their mothers as well. And perhaps they deserve this but I do believe that is up to us only God has the only right to judge. "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."- Matthew 7: 12.

Once again, Very nice.

And anonymous, as to the end of your comment... and this is for everybody else as well:

If you don't appreciate my writing, don't read it! It's as simple as that. I like to write, so therefore I do it. I am a sarcastic person when I write and if you don't like it, then, well, I'm quite sorry.

Anybody who writes blogs knows that not everybody is going to agree with them, but the point is that they are writing and they aren't afraid to get their stuff out there.

sunglasses at night

So, does anybody else love that the Indiana Daily Student completely scooped IUSA yet again?

Wait. Let's see a show of hands.
Good, that's... everybody.

You would think that IU's student body president might not let people take pictures of her when she is drinking. I don't know, maybe that's just me though. Well, come to think of it, I would probably want the whole world to know (including potential employers) that even though I am a hardworking president representing an entire university that I can damn well still have fun! Yeah. Good one.

Kudos to IDS for that one.

Oh, and don't you just love when politicians say something that the public has been saying for years and expect everybody to think that whatever they said was pure genius? Like maybe, just maybe, we hadn't thought about that yet? I for one love when this happens. It really reafirms my belief in the American political system which gives the creative, free-thinking politicians of our great country (which may I remind everybody that our country is founded by free-thinkers) a chance at the presidency. Oh man, I can hardly wait.

believe in what you want

I just wanted to share this little comment I got on my last post with everybody.

"I believe that you are the "ignorant" one. You tag your so called post only to those you know will agree with you. Come on, what are you afraid of? That someone may actually prove you wrong. Well then, I suggest you get use to harsh criticism. Something tells me by your ignorant "pro-life" point of view without all the facts will result in your failure as a journalist. Here is some real advice, BE OPEN MINDED!"

hmm...
Why don't we look at this comment.

In the second sentence, "tag your so called post" should be "tag your so-called post". In the fourth sentence, I believe it was supposed to be in the form of a question, but hark! No question mark. Tsk, tsk, poor punctuation. 5th sentence - "I suggest you get use to harsh criticism" should be "I suggest you get used to harsh criticism". I'm not even going to touch that 6th sentence (if you can call it a sentence). Sorry, I don't deal well with fragments. And that last sentence... ouch. "Here is some real advice, BE OPEN MINDED!". Ever heard of a colon? Let's move way back to oh, say 6th grade english?

I have some "real advice" for that person. Learn grammar!!!

Anyway, I really appreciate any constructive criticism anybody can offer me. Key word being constructive here. If you are just going to comment because you don't like me, cool. Atleast leave your name next time, though. Otherwise I'm going to think that you are scared! Aw, sad. I don't think anybody who has a blog is really afraid of people disagreeing with them. Come on now, I encourage it!! That's really what this is all about! I'm not going to apoligize for my views, and you shouldn't either. This world is too full of people who are afraid to say what they think. Now, let's get some debate going!
=)

the one i'm waiting for

Let's start this out right.
I'm actually not going to get going on Britney. I think the photo really speaks for itself.

Wait, I changed my mind.

WHAT WAS SHE THINKING? If this is a publicity stunt, well, it's working. But by this point, I don't think any of us are surprised by what Brit has been doing. I mean, after marrying Kevin Federeline (who has a myspace?) I would probably shave my head, too. And change my name. And move out of the country. And maybe die. I don't know, though. I'm kind of excited about his new CD. If it's anything like Playing with Fire, I'm sure we can all expect big things.

I think that my general setup for this blog is going to be as follows:
Title - The song I last listened to
First thing I talk about - Something in the news
Next thing I talk about - Something that irks me
After that - I don't know. I'll probably pull off something pretty crazy.

Well, since I have my title and my bit of news... here is my irk of the day.

MY FEMINISM CLASS.
Um DIE.
No, but that class is full of people who are so liberal I think Hilary Clinton is kind of scared.

She's putting on her game face. She's ready. But no, nobody is really ever ready. She is now just scared.

I usually don't talk in this class because I would literally get eaten alive. I took it to fulfill a requirement without really thinking about the consequenses. My mother told me not to take it, but I just didn't listen. Well, today, I talked.

We were talking about abortion, which is one thing that I really, really get heated about. I am pro-life. Now, whenever you hear somebody say this, you automatically assume that they are Christian. Well, yes, I happen to be Christian. But there are so many reasons that abortion is wrong that are not based on Christian morals. Ah, don't get me started. I could go on and on.

I have no problem with pro-choice people. I love them. I just love people in general. But the one thing I can not stand, above all, is ignorant people. Misinformed or uninformed. They think that they know what they are talking about, but really, they are just repeating what they think they should believe in a feminism class. And you know what that was? Abortion is good because if we outlaw it, it will just be another way for men to oppress women by taking away their choice.

Can I remind everyone that this choice is killing a potential human being? I'm not completely against abortion -- there are always exceptions that can be justified. For instance, rape, medical reasons, and so on. But doing it just because you got pregnant by mistake? If you made the conscious choice to have sex without contraception, then I'm sorry, but that was your choice. There are soo many forms of contraception besides abortion, including condoms, birth control, day-after pills, everything that could possibly make it easy not to get pregnant. And I don't want to hear the "they are too expensive" argument, because I know that an abortion is much more so.

Another argument that was made today was that the earth is overpopulated, and without abortions blah blah blah. You know the rest. And kids who aren't wanted shouldn't have to live in a world that doesn't support them. Ever heard of adoption? There are plenty of parents waiting for such children. And I believe that everybody atleast deserves the chance to make their lives good.

My favorite quote of the day, however, was this: "You're trying to make it sound like life is the best gift ever!" (in a completely serious tone...she was not kidding).

I just looked at this girl and shook my head. "Um, yes. I would say that life is probably the greatest thing that can happen to a person." umm...duh?

Oh. The agony. One word describes how I feel in that class: misery.

On a lighter note, who doesn't love a good facebook stalker? Oh, come on. You know you all do this!!
